The next week was one of the best of Justin’s life.

Justin had nowhere that he needed to be, and without either of them discussing it they both just accepted the fact that he would stay. Justin continued to shy away from pressing Brad to define their deal, and Brad never brought it up.

The contractor wasn’t able to work from home every day, but the first time he had to go to his office, he left Justin with a key to the apartment and a credit card.

“See if you can grab some groceries, baby,” he told Justin, bending down to give him a quick kiss when he left.

Justin just nodded, swallowing past a sudden lump in his throat. He wondered if Brad would have been as quick to trust him if he’d known all the ways that Justin had screwed up in the past. Brad had faith in him, and for once Justin started to believed that he might actually be worthy of it. Being with Brad made him feel like maybe he could do things right for a change.

Since meeting Brad, he hadn’t felt the panicky, out of control loneliness that had been his constant companion for the last couple of years. He felt like he had a place, that he belonged.

He felt home.

Justin fell happily into a routine, shopping, cooking, and walking Buttons during the day while Brad worked, all the while counting down the time until the other man got home. Justin hadn’t really cooked before, but Brad left his laptop at the house so Justin could look up recipes.

“What’s this?” Brad asked with a warm smile the first time he came home to Justin’s attempt at dinner.

“Well, it’s supposed to be lasagna.” Justin blushed. He knew the recipe hadn’t quite gone as planned, but at least it smelled good.

“It looks great, baby,” Brad had said, pulling him close for a long kiss. “Let me just hop in the shower before we eat.”

Justin straightened the dishes he’d set out, trying to make everything perfect while he waited for the other man to come to the table. Brad worked hard, and Justin had really wanted to give him something nice to come home to.

Justin sighed, wishing that was his only motivation.

Even though he tried not to let himself think about it, he knew there was a part of him that secretly hoped Brad would want to keep him around if he could just show the other man all the ways it would be to his advantage.

Not least of all, physically.

Brad couldn’t seem to get enough of touching Justin.

Before being with Brad, Justin had never thought much about gay sex. Brad still hadn’t attempted to fuck him, and Justin never would have guessed there were so many ways to make someone come without actual penetration. He loved hearing the powerful man cry out his name when he came, and he’d never felt anything as sexually intense as the orgasms Brad managed to pull out of him nightly.
